SolShield collects minimal data necessary to provide UV index information:

• Location Data: When you grant permission, we access your device's location to fetch UV index data for your area. This location data is used solely for API requests and is never stored on our servers.
• Saved Locations: Any locations you save are stored locally on your device only.
• User Preferences: Your settings (skin type, notification preferences, language) are stored locally on your device.

How We Use Your Information

Your location is used exclusively to:

• Request current and forecasted UV index data from our weather data provider
• Provide location-specific sun protection recommendations
• Display relevant UV information on widgets (if enabled)

Third-Party Services

SolShield uses Open-Meteo, a free and open-source weather API, to obtain UV index data. When fetching UV data:

• Only your latitude and longitude coordinates are sent to Open-Meteo
• No personal identifiers, device IDs, or account information are transmitted
• Open-Meteo does not require user accounts or tracking

Data Storage

All data is stored locally on your device:

• UV history and statistics
• Saved locations
• User preferences and settings
• Subscription status (managed by Apple)

We do not operate servers that store your personal data. We have no user accounts and no cloud sync features.

Analytics and Tracking

SolShield does not use any analytics services, advertising SDKs, or tracking technologies. We do not collect usage statistics, crash reports, or behavioral data.

Subscriptions

SolShield offers an optional premium subscription. All subscription management and payment processing is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not have access to your payment information.

Children's Privacy

SolShield does not knowingly collect any personal information from children. The app is rated 4+ and contains no objectionable content.
